The Principia School from St. Louis, MO visited the Kelly Campus during the week of January 27th. Despite blowing winds and driving snow that dominated much of this week, the Principia students had another enjoyable and reflective visit. Winchester Thurston Middle School had their first visit to the Teton Science Schools June 24-30th. A group of 10 students traveled from Pittsburgh, PA to spend a week in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Highlights of this trip included a day spent in Yellowstone National Park, canoeing on String Lake in Grand Teton National Park and an early morning banding birds at Schwabacher’s Landing. We look forward to this group returning during the summer of 2008.
On Tuesday, March 27th, Kevin Haspela’s graduate team and their student groups found a great gray owl at the Murie Center in Moose, WY. Several faculty members went back and photographed this bird. This species is able to locate small rodents under the snowpack by sound and catch its prey using auditory clues alone.
