Conservation Research Center

Purpose

Promoting natural resource stewardship through
research and education.

Teton Science Schools’ Conservation Research Center was formed in response to the growing need in Jackson Hole for responsible conservation and stewardship of private lands. We seek a reasonable balance between wildlife and people to develop strategies for responsible growth that other western communities can follow. Our core interests focus on Research, Outreach and Stewardship.

Research Objectives

Develop insight into the complex ways animals, plant communities and landscapes are affected by human uses.
Participate in decision-making processes to ensure that land-use decisions in the region are based on ecological principles and ecosystem integrity.

Outreach Objectives

Educate people through creative and innovative programs that use Conservation Research Center activities to inform and inspire land stewardship.
Integrate closely with other Teton Science Schools' programs to achieve the overall mission of Teton Science Schools.

Stewardship Objectives
Use holistic management to develop short and long-term land management objectives.

Improve habitat quality for a diverse set of wildlife, bird and aquatic species.
Provide hands-on stewardship training to support Teton Science Schools' programs and community outreach.
Internships are open for Summer 2007 in Watershed Management and Stewardship.
