Elementary School Announcements
Are you interested in your child's weekly school schedule? What days do they have art? What days do they have P.E.? Please click here for the elementary schedule for the week of December 12-16.
As the temperatures drop, please be sure to send your child to school with a minimum of the BIG 5 (hat, gloves, boots, snowpants, winter coat). Warm children make happy children - especially at recess and P.E.!
Winter 2012 After School Enrichment Program
The After School Enrichment Program is available to all students enrolled at Journeys School in grades 2-12. Winter classes will meet for nine weeks, January 16th through March 23rd, with no classes the week of February 20th. Classes are $135 each and run from 3:30-5:00pm. To register, or for more information, contact Sam at firstname.lastname@example.org or 734-9851.
Math Fact Masters with Betsy Trowbridge
Grades 2-5, Mondays
Students will practice and track their progress in math fact mastery through a variety of speed practice, online practice and math fact games. Each session will begin with a snack and 15 minutes of choice time and then move into math fact practice and finish with a weekly assessment.
Learning Lab with Travis Gay
Grades 3-5, Mondays
Get your homework done early! Join Travis Gay, Learning Needs Coordinator, for a study session. The class will include establishing good homework habits, completion of homework, and support with class assignments. Students will start the session with a short recess and snack.
Baking Club with Charlotte Davis
Grades 3-7, Tuesdays
Join Charlotte Davis, Pre-K faculty (and former pastry chef!) in Baking Club on Tuesdays. Baking Club will consist of reading recipes, baking, clean-up, and eating. The first meeting, Charlotte will choose a dessert to create with the children, and the group will come up with a list of foods that students are interested in creating for the remainder of the meetings. After the first meeting, the group will use students’ recipe ideas. By the end of the 9-week class, students will have a better understanding of measurements, cook-time, flavor, creating tasty things from scratch, and (hopefully) will be excited to continue exploring the kitchen on their own. If there is sufficient interest, we will add a Thursday Baking Club. Please let Sam know if your child(ren) would like to attend Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Free Tutoring for 1st-3rd Grade Students
Teton County Library
As part of the International Baccalaureate program, 11th and 12th grade students are required to start and complete a Grassroots project. Journeys High School seniors Marilyn Garcia, Cassie Morales, and Megom Wangchuk started The Journeys School Students Tutoring Program. The program engages and aids 1st-3rd grade elementary students with homework and school related projects. The tutoring program is free and will run Mondays from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the children’s section of the Teton County Library. The first day of tutoring is December 19th. There will be no tutoring service during winter break, spring break, and other holidays. Tutoring will reconvene on January 9th and run until the end of May. For more information, please contact Megom Wangchuk at email@example.com.

Fifth Grade Gets a Taste of Middle School Life

The middle school is thrilled to welcome the 5th grade students into their community! Students will be paired with current 6th grade students and go through an entire day of Daily Practice, classes, lunch, and elective classes. Please remind 5th grade students to bring a pair of indoor shoes, lunch, and a reading book for their visit.
