High School Information Night
Monday, November 14, 6:00-7:00 pm
High School Classroom
This session is geared toward current 8th grade families but families with younger students are welcome to join. In addition, if you have friends or neighbors that may be interested, please forward this information to them as this session is open to the public. Learn more about the Journeys School high school and the International Baccalaureate (IB) World School program. Meet in the high school with school leaders (Nate McClennen, Head of School, Tammie Van Holland, Director of Admissions, David Porter, International Baccalaureate Coordinator, and Heather Marks, Director of College Counseling) for an informational session followed by a current student and parent sharing of their experiences. For eighth grade parents, this has been scheduled after the 5:00-6:00 eighth grade Capstone Journey meeting in the middle school. Hors d’oeuvres and pizza dinner will be available at the high school info session and both parents and students are encouraged to attend.
College Coffee - State of College Admissions 2011

All Journeys School parents are invited to attend the College Coffee Program where Heather Marks, Director of College Counseling, will discuss The National Association for College Admission Counseling’s (NACAC) State of College Admission report. Topics will include college applications, application strategies and factors in the admissions decision. After a short presentation, there will be ample time for discussion and questions. Coffee and light snacks will be provided. Please RSVP to Heather Marks at firstname.lastname@example.org or 734-3711.
9th and 10th Grade Spanish Classes
On Monday November 28, students in 9th and 10th grade Spanish classes will take a trip to La Alameda, a local Mexican Mercado, as part of their Comida Creativa (creative food) unit. Here they will participate in a scavenger hunt activity in order to get to know different products and the culture of a Latino mercado. Here, as well as a stop to La Canasta, a local panadería, they will have the opportunity to practice their Spanish in our community. As this trip is the first day after vacation, please help remind your student to bring money if they would like a treat!
