High School Announcements
If you have an extra toaster or microwave oven hanging out in your garage waiting for you next yard sale, please consider donating it to the high school. We are discovering a need for more of these essential kitchen items to help get everyone fed in a timely manner. Questions? Contact Shoshana at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Learning Team Meetings have begun at the high school. Please look for emails from your child’s advisor with details and signup information. It's important to remember that the meetings are run by the student so please make sure your child is available for the meeting before scheduling.
End of Quarter
March 16th will mark the end of the third quarter. Expect progress reports shortly after the end of the quarter.
International Grade Reporting Begins
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program twelfth grade students have been completing internal assessments in their courses over the past two years. Internal assessments are set and graded by Journeys School teachers according to criteria set by IB. Teachers have held the assessments for the score reporting period which has just opened and closes April 10. Faculty members enter internal assessment scores on an IB website, and the scores make up a percentage of the students’ final IB grade for each course. Value percentages differ for the various assessments and differ among courses. Additionally, students’ Extended Essays have been sent via courier for external assessment, and Theory of Knowledge essays have been electronically uploaded for external assessment. An external assessment is one for which the parameters of the assignment or exam, the assessment criteria, and grading are all set and assessed by IB external examiners. The final exam period for the Diploma Program will be from May 2 – May 22. Exams from the final exam period are sent to examiners for marking immediately after completion. Final student results for the two-year program are released in July.
Physics to Gas Field
The IB Physics students visited the Jonah Natural Gas fields in Pinedale, Wyoming on Tuesday, March 6th. Students were given a tour of the area, an upclose look at the extraction platforms and a lesson on the technology used. Please click here for a photo from the journey.
The robotics team is Casper bound! They are registered for the Wyoming FTC Tournament in Casper on Saturday, March 17th. Students will leave Friday, March 16th after 3rd block and return late Saturday night or Sunday morning.
Thank You Parent Council
Students and faculty are grateful for Parent Council's generous and enthusiastic support (with special kudos to Amy Williams and Jane Gallie) for the “100 Days Until Graduation” surprise lunch party that seniors celebrated on February 27th. What a great way to honor students’ accomplishments thus far and remind students to make the most of the time that is left before graduation!
