Individualized education, what does that mean? What does that look like? Does it mean that students are working independently throughout the week on activities that are tailored just for them?

When one walks through the Journeys Middle School, there are many things worth stopping to inquire about. On any given day, students are enthusiastically engaged in projects involving everything from 17th century primary documents, measuring acceleration, creating commercials in Spanish using iPads, and conducting mathematic experiments focused on real world problems.

Now that Journeys School high school has become an International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) Program World School and is applying to become a Middle Years Program School, one might question, given IB’s curricular guidelines and universal assessment criteria, if the high school is still able to deliver an individualized education. The answer is definitely yes.
