Community Merit Scholarship
Journeys School of Teton Science Schools is excited to announce the Community Merit Scholarship for local students. Journeys School will offer a dedicated scholarship of $10,000 per year for a local student. The scholarship is available exclusively to children or grandchildren of families actively employed by Teton County, WY non-profit organizations, government agencies or volunteer for Fire/EMS or Teton County Search and Rescue.
Prospective Journeys School students currently enrolled in grades five through eleven for the 2016-17 school year are eligible to apply. The scholarship will be awarded to one applicant for the 2017-2018 school year and will be renewed on an annual basis through graduation. Current Journeys School students are not eligible.
The scholarship recipient will be selected based on academic and character-based criteria. The admissions process includes: teacher recommendations, recent test scores, grades/transcript, essay questions, an application, student writing sample, student visit and an interview.

Applicants will be reviewed by a preselected Journeys School admissions committee through which a scholarship recipient will be chosen.
Monday, October 10th: Journeys School is hosting a Community Merit Scholarship Information Night on Monday, October 10th from 6:30-7:30pm at the Teton County Library Auditorium to answer any questions about the admissions process and/or application.
Saturday, October 22nd: There will be a Journeys School Open House on October 22nd from 9 am-noon and all interested students and families are encouraged to attend at all grade levels.
Monday, January 16th: Journeys School will host a Leadership Day for Community Merit Scholarship applicants. The day will include leadership and team-building experiences on the Doug Walker Challenge Course and give applicants the opportunity to interact with current students and teachers.
Tuesday, January 31st: To be considered for the the 2017/18 scholarship, applications must be submitted by January 31st, 2017 at 5 pm.

Families with a broad range of financial means currently enroll their children at the Journeys School.The Community Merit Scholarship will not eliminate a family from consideration for need-based tuition assistance if there is additional financial need. The scholarship is based on merit and the amount of the scholarship will not change in the event that need-based tuition assistance is also awarded. In addition to the Community Merit Scholarship, Journeys School provides approximately one million dollars in need-based tuition assistance to students annually and 40% of students receive tuition assistance. Any interested families are encouraged to apply for tuition assistance at Journeys School.
