Research Projects
Climate Modeling
Alpine ecosystems are particularly vulnerable to warming temperatures. We use field data to understand how mountain environments may be changing in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, and how to best manage natural resources under new climatic regimes.
Projects include:
- Pika Ecology and Demography
- Dendroclimatology (tree rings and climate)
Land Use Impacts
The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem represents one of the most intact temperate zone ecosystems on earth. We investigate how human development may impact species-specific resource use, migration patterns, population dynamics and long-term health. We also examine the ways in which changes in species composition may influence ecosystem processes.
Projects include:
- Avian Ecology and Demography
-Bird Banding/MAPS (Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship)
-Songbirds and Development
- Ungulate Habitat Use
-Mule Deer and Elk
- Meso-predator Ecology
-Carnivore Ecology
