Introduction: The Summer Internship Program of Teton Science Schools’ Communications and Sales department is a three-month opportunity available to a positive and proactive person interested in photography, social media and general non-profit marketing. The Intern’s major duties will be to: take TSS programmatic digital photographs, post photos to various social media sites, catalog/update Teton Science Schools photo library, and help with other general nonprofit marketing. The intern will benefit from the personal supervision and support of an experienced Communications and Sales mentor. They will also complete a customized program designed to enhance the professional experience and expand their own portfolio.

Time Frame:  June through August or mid-May through mid-August

Commitment: 20 hours per week - Part Time

Salary: This is not a paid internship program, there is no salary

Program Description: The program consists of mentor relationships, professional immersion, personal project, and academic experiences.

  1. Mentor Relationships: The intern will be assigned an experienced mentor who works in the Communications and Sales Department and has a digital photography and social media focus. The mentor would meet frequently on an informal basis with the intern, along with scheduled weekly meetings. 
  2. Professional Immersion: The intern will be assigned specific marketing and communication projects related to photography and social media tasks throughout the duration of the internship.
  3. Personal Project: The intern will design and implement a specific digital photography/social media project to develop their own skills and to benefit Teton Science Schools. This project will be completed by the end of the intern program.
  4. Academic Experiences: The intern will have the opportunity to attend at least one professional development opportunity to increase their knowledge of photography, social media, marketing and communications during the duration of their internship. The intern will also be assigned recommended reading related to marketing and communications and have the opportunity to discuss the readings with a professional.
