Teacher Training at the Murie Center
For the second year Teton Science Schools have partnered with the Murie Center to offer teacher trainings. The program from October 28 - 31, 2010 was the first of the two part series and included 24 teachers from Wyoming and Idaho.
The first installment this year focused on why place-based education is important. The workshop included an introduction to the Muries, field components, writing about place sessions, service learning, and opportunities to plan for implementing place-based education back at home. Teachers and administrators came in teams to participate together.
The teams will return again in the spring to continue the professional development. Also in the spring, teams of graduate students will visit each of the schools to provide additional support for implementing place-based programs.
