2010 AmeriCorp volunteers have much to be proud of as they leave Teton Science Schools. Although their service to the organization and in the region formally ended on November 12, 2010 their accomplishments have left a lasting impact on the valley and those they have worked with during their time here. In the Fall of 2010, a team of seven Teton Science Schools’ graduate students, two instructors and two faculty traveled to Saratoga, Hanna, Casper and Cheyenne, Wyoming to work in schools providing place-based, science learning experiences for students.
Salsa dancing, comparing communism and socialism, Spanish discourse on poetry, reading aloud to younger students and building online tour guides about international cities all occurred at Journeys School this week as I wandered the school. Students were not only engaged, but each was held individually responsible for his/her own learning.
