The warm southern winds have been a welcome reprieve from the cold short days of winter. If you listen closely you can hear the trill of red-winged black birds (Agelaius phoeniceus) and alarm calls of American Robins (Turdus migratorius). This is music to my ears and a nice splash of color to my eyes. Sarah Ernst was out with a family yesterday who stated the Mountain Bluebirds (Sialia currucoides) "look like they have been plucked from the sky and placed on the snow." Each day brings new adventures to the wildlife enthusiast. I was enjoying a cup of cof! fee watching my bird feeder Sunday morning when I noticed the change inplumage of the American Goldfinches (Carduelis tristis). I really enjoy the notes of spring.
