In addition to a place-based educational setting, the Pre-Kindergarten Program incorporates principles influenced by the Reggio Emilia Approach. The Reggio Emilia Approach emphasizes deriving curriculum from children's interests: By identifying what problems children are trying to solve and giving them the means to solve these problems, learning becomes more meaningful. Children actively take charge of their own learning. Young children need experiences with other children in a setting that allows them time to explore their interests, solve problems and learn social skills. One way children are encouraged to accomplish these goals are through long-term investigations.
