    Nate was part of the founding faculty at Journeys School in 2001 and was appointed Head of School in 2006. Since 1993, he has taught science and math at the secondary level and science at university level. Nate received a Klingenstein Heads Fellowship in 2009 with Teachers College at Columbia University and taught as a field instructor for the graduate program in independent school leadership at Columbia University. He has served on various accreditation teams within the Pacific Northwest and led the Journeys School through both Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools and International Baccalaureate accreditations. Nate worked with an independent school in Central America in the winter of 2011-12 to support classroom instruction and administrative leadership. Nate's areas of interest include math/science teaching, technology, instructional coaching, curriculum planning and leadership. He has served on the board of Jackson Community Recycling and enjoys spending time outside with his wife and two children.

    Tammie’s experience in fiscal planning and love of education and the outdoors led her to Teton Science Schools in 2006. Previously, she has been s a non profit consultant and the Executive Director of three theatre companies in Colorado and Wyoming. Tammie began her career teaching theatre at the Aspen Country Day School and the Aspen High School and is thrilled to be back in a school community at the Journeys School. She serves on the board for the Jackson Youth Soccer and enjoys hiking and adventuring with her family.

  • Sam Kitchen

    Originally a Wildlife Biology major at Michigan State University, Sam received her degree in Zoology from the University of Idaho. As an undergraduate she had the opportunity to work in a graduate-level genetics research lab and she also enjoyed tutoring other students. She is a former paramedic and 911 operator, and has also worked at St. John’s Hospital. A Michigan native, Sam is very appreciative of the scenery and lifestyle this area offers. Besides spending time with her husband and two school-age children, she enjoys swimming, cycling, and running and has completed two Ironman triathlons.
