The term community takes on several levels of meaning at the Teton Valley Community School. The school provides a supportive learning community that includes students, parents, and teachers. It is located in the city of Victor and classes from TVCS frequently walk to town to complete investigations, seek local knowledge, visit historic sites, and participate in community events. Teton Valley, Idaho contains a vast array of social, cultural, and ecological communities in which the students interact, learn, and contribute. As a school, we participate in many community events including the Tin Cup Challenge, Envision Victor, Music on Main, Festival of Trees, Farmer’s Market, and 4th of July Parade. For the past few years, TVCS has won a $500 award for having the most volunteers help out with the annual Community Clean-up Day sponsored by Silverstar Communications.
