Place-Based Education Workshop at Murie Center
Teacher Learning Center
Sep 20-23, 2012, Spring 2013
The Murie Center
4 Moose Road
Moose, WY 82012

Teton Science Schools and The Murie Center are collaborating to bring a multi-disciplinary, place-based training to teachers throughout Wyoming. This series of two workshops will focus on building the foundation of place-based pedagogies and activities along with creating a project to take back to your classroom. The first workshop will be held September 20-23, 2012. The second workshop will be held at the Murie Center in the Spring of 2013 (dates TBD).

In addition to the two workshops, generous support from the George B. Storer Foundation will enable a team of Teton Science Schools’ faculty and graduate students to provide an outreach program in the classrooms of teachers who participate in the 2012-2013 workshops. Outreach will be provided during the spring of 2013, and dates will be scheduled during the Fall 2012 workshop.

Participants will stay at the historic Murie Ranch in Grand Teton National Park, and this will be the site of the majority of the programming, provided by Teton Science Schools. A grant will cover all room and board cost along with professional development credits; however a $25 registration fee per school is required. Participants will be eligible for 4 UW credits and $150 stipend.

We hope you’ll find an additional one to three teachers for your team and register as soon as possible as we anticipate filling up fast. The suggested cap per school is 4 representatives (teachers and/or school leaders); however, if you have more teachers or administrators who would like to attend, please contact Leslie Cook to discuss the situation.

If you have any questions regarding the content of the workshop, please e-mail Leslie Cook at leslie.cook@tetonscience.org or call 307-733-1313
