Sierra is a citizen of the Oglála Lakȟóta Nation. She was raised as an urban Native in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She spent the past four years at the University of Washington, earning a dual degree in American Indian Studies and Environmental Science and Resource Management. She is passionate about Indigenous food sovereignty and the potential for our youth to learn from the land through growing and eating traditional foods. She is curious to see how the Teton Science Schools’ approach to outdoor education could guide her pursuits in cultivating food forests with younger generations. In her free time, Sierra can be found on the water, beading, or cooking something tasty.
