Welcome Back Elementary Families!

We are excited to start a new year of engaged learning in elementary at Journeys School. We have a strong team of teachers ready to set high expectations and goals for the year. I want to welcome Molly Nash back onto our team as the third grade math teacher and a part time interventionist with the Student Growth and Learning team. We also are excited to have Christina Macy, the new afterschool teacher, work part time with elementary on K-1 Explorations and electives. Kevin Rauch-Lynch is our new part time PE teacher.

We also welcome all new families and look forward to seeing new families, and our returning families, on Welcome Back Day. Please drop by the classroom with students from 3:30 to 4 to greet teachers and find cubbies and classrooms. From 4pm to 5pm we will be going over important information, relevant to all, in the downstairs north classroom as one large group. Students will have supervision on the play field while parents are at the meeting. You will have the opportunity to break into smaller advisory groups for the last half an hour for more details on specific classes and questions and answer sessions. You all should have received an email and phone call from your child's advisor, your main point of contact, to get you oriented for the beginning of the school year. If for some reason you are unable to meet with us on Monday, we will take attendance and make sure you get a hard copy of the information covered that night.

Our first day of school will be an orientation day but we will dive into our regular afternoon rotations on Thursday. Afternoon rotation lists and schedules will be available at Welcome Back Day. Our typical week will begin after Labor Day, noting that we will still be assessing and adjusting groupings as necessary during that week. Haiku will not be live until the week after Labor Day.

We will look forward to the students happily populating our school next week. We can't wait to dive in to a new year of growth with each one of them!
