Unity Day and Sock-tober
On Wednesday the elementary school celebrated Unity Day, along with district schools. Unity Day recognizes an intent to be: UNITED for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Our community has been demonstrating many ways that students can take a stand against behavior that hurts. We will be doing activities in advisory, afternoon reading time, and during our commUNITY meeting at the end of the day that help students to think about treating others the way THEY want to be treated. On Wednesday students wore orange (UNITY day color nationwide) and crazy socks that express individuality. This SOCK-TOBER celebration was a suggestion of the upper elementary students.
Open House this Saturday
Saturday, October 22nd from 9am-12pm isn’t just for new families, it is fun for all families! We just ask that you bring a new friend with you! All ages welcome! Please RSVP with Warren, firstname.lastname@example.org or call 307.732.7745. There will be two different explorations provided by elementary school: an art/Spanish project and water studies. We would love to see you there!
Do you have any outsized gloves or mittens cluttering up your drawers at home? The elementary would love to take them off your hands (ha ha) and use them for borrow gloves at school. Thank you!
Also a reminder to bring the BIG 5 to school every day from here until the spring! All students are required to wear the big 5 at recess unless they have self government, in which case they can forego snowpants.
Learning Team Meetings
Please sign up with your child's advisor for your learning team meeting if you have not yet done so. We look forward to meeting with you soon.
Fabulous Field Education
Thanks to an innovation award grant, Journeys School elementary students will be working with TSS's amazing field education staff on many Friday afternoons during leadership block. This partnership is intended to utilize our TSS resources, build character with safe risk taking, and expand outdoor leadership skills. Thanks to Garrett for applying for the grant and organizing this year-long partnership and thank you to the TSS field education staff for being willing to make this happen.
Thank you to Meladi Hagerdon for supplying lunch for the teachers during our PD day- delicious! Thank you to Nima, Aimee, and Jill for snack and rag support. Next up on 11/4 (no school on 10/28) is Libby, Norene, and Cindy B.
We appreciate the snack support from families. We want to remind everyone that this snack is supplemental and students should plan on bringing a snack in their lunch box on a daily basis. We always have back up snack available, but we have found when students bring their own snack there is less waste and more recess play time! Thank you.
