  • Fostering Pride for Place through Hands-to-Work

    Hands-to-work is yet another way we plant the seeds of social responsibility in our students, an ethic that they can take with them wherever they go once they leave Teton Science Schools. From Field Education participants who may have only been on campus for a few days, to directors who have been with TSS for over a decade, we all form part of one unified community bound by a thread of stewardship.

  • Educating for the Ideal Student in Bhutan

    On the last day of our third place-based education workshop in Bhutan this past January, staff from the Royal Education Council were immersed in a flurry of sticky notes and passionate conversation. We had presented them with a real-world problem: In the past, winter snowfall and seasonal glacial melt has allowed Bhutan to generate hydropower for use in-country. But Bhutan has lost 20% of its glaciers in the last 20 years.

    For the first time in Teton Science Schools' 49-year history, we are “all in” in supporting the organization philanthropically. By “we,” I mean parents of Teton Valley Community School and Journeys School students, as well as every full-time employee throughout the organization.
