Journeys School International Baccalaureate Information Session

Journeys School invites students, parents and interested community members to learn more about Journeys School's International Baccalaureate program on Monday, June 9, from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Teton County Library. Saturday, June 21
Meet at Snow King at 5:00 pm
All families are invited to the Species Parade in Jackson on Saturday, June 21. If you have a student in grades 2-10, please come and celebrate your student’s fabulous art work! Grades 2 and 3 will celebrate their Elephant’s Child masks, grades 4 through 8 will walk with their Species masks, and grades 9 and 10 will parade with their aquatic scene, which includes an organza river, floral features and species that live in and around rivers in Jackson Hole. Please meet Heidi at the Snow King Baseball field at 5:00 pm where we will distribute all the masks and puppets to the students. We will start parading from Snow King to Town Square via Cache at 5:30pm. Around 6:30pm students will meet with their families and friends on Town Square and enjoy the Solstice Street Fair (former Japanese Fire Festival) with its abundance of food, drink, music, fires, and performing arts. Thank you to everyone who joined us for Graduation Night. A special thanks to commencement speakers Gordon Finnegan and Peter Stalker. The event was an great success and couldn’t have been done without the support of Parent Council and many parents volunteers! Thank you all!
Graduation Video Online
Teton Science Schools' Communications Team is creating a high-quality video of last week's Graduation ceremony. This video will be available next week; please watch for an email with that link. In the meantime, if you'd like to see the ceremony online you can click here for a "temporary" video of the ceremony.
High school and middle school semester reports and elementary trimester reports will be sent via US mail the week of June 16.
Final Issue of Announcements
This is the final issue of Weekly Announcements for the 2013-2014 school year. We will resume weekly announcements in late August. Be sure to watch your email for Journeys School news as well as other exciting events in all program areas of Teton Science Schools.
Summer Admissions and Office Hours
The Journeys School office remains open year-round to serve current and prospective families. Summer office hours are 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. If you know of a family or student interested in Journeys School, please contact email@example.com or call 734-3710. If you have family or friends visiting over the summer and would like to show them your school, please don’t hesitate to schedule a tour with Tammie.
Parent Council Teacher Lunches/Breakfasts Thanks
Many thanks to Parent Council for making the teachers feel so appreciated throughout the year. Every one of the breakfasts, lunches, and dinners provided were absolutely amazing. Your thoughtfulness warms our hearts. Thank you SO much!
Congratulations to Journeys School Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Shoshana Kobrin, Journeys School Teacher of the Year. Nominated by the faculty, this award is meant to identify individuals who continuously make a difference in the lives of students and the school community, specifically impact the school through their actions, commitment and dedication, and who further the mission of the school. We are very proud of our entire faculty; the success of all Journeys school students is a testament to their teaching excellence. Congratulations and thank you to Shoshana and all of Journeys School's teachers!
Thank You to Community Lunch Volunteers
Thank you to everyone who helped with community lunch throughout the year. Volunteers are a very important part of community lunch and we truly appreciate your time! We send a very special thank you to Tim Sandlin and Carol Chesney who joined us every week! Thank you to frequent volunteers Jessie Lang, Jean Jorgensen, and Rhonda Watson, as well as to all the other parents who helped with Community Lunch. Last but not least, thank you to to our amazing intern Scott Smith for his time and energy at Community Lunch (and in the classrooms)!
The Summer Academy at Journeys School
July 7 – August 1, 2014 (4 weeks)
Looking for enrichment and acceleration experiences for your student(s) during the summer months? The Summer Academy at Journeys School offers courses focused on thematic areas of mathematics, writing, chemistry, language, performing arts, college preparation, and more. There's even a for-credit high school geometry class! Most courses run for one week from 9:00 am - noon or from 1:00-4:00 pm. Participating students are those who are motivated and engaged learners seeking to continue their intellectual growth over the summer months. Please mark your calendars for the Annual Journeys School Auction and Gala. All proceeds from this fun, fabulous event directly benefit Journeys School students and teachers.
Please continue to save your energy bar wrappers, drink pouches, chip bags, cookie wrappers, candy wrappers, corks, coffee bags, Kashi packaging, and glue sticks during the summer to be upcycled through TerraCycle! You can take them to the Jackson Community Recycling Center on Adams Canyon Road (bins are inside the residential drop-off area) or save them for your child to bring back to school in September.
