Monday Field Day with TSS Field Education!
Please have students come ready for a day in the field on Monday, September 12th. They will need good outdoor clothing, layers, and close toed shoes. Also, this is a change, please bring a field lunch. That means a lunch that requires no extra preparation and can be eaten directly from the lunch box. We are looking forward to time on the challenge course and being outside preparing for journeys.
Journey Packets with goals, itineraries, and packing lists will be sent home next Monday (September 12) for our September 22-23rd journeys. Please send back the intent to participate form as soon as you can to help teachers with planning for transportation or overnights. Kindergarten and first grade students will be in the valley and will not be spending the night. Second and third grade students will be visiting the Kelly campus of Teton Science Schools where they will be spending the night. Fourth and fifth grade students will be heading to Island Park and Harriman State Park and will be spending the night.
5th Grade Float Trip!
The annual 5th grade scenic float with the Snake River Fund is on Wednesday, September 14th. Black Dog Raft Company will take us from Wilson to South Park. For your child to participate, he/she needs to submit 2 forms (one from Black Dog Raft Company AND one from Snake River Fund). Your child will bring hard copies home Friday afternoon, as well as a gear list. Also, an optional donation of $5-$10 to tip the guides who are donating their time and shuttling us would be appreciated. Please send in an envelope with your child, if you choose. Please let Bari know if you have any questions... via email: email@example.com or phone: 734-9869.
Haiku should be up and running as a parent and student resource. Thank you for checking it on a regular basis to get information about what is happening each week in class, homework, and due dates. Students and teachers are happily engaged in classes this week and we look forward to sharing the great learning that is taking place! If you are having trouble logging in to Haiku (most usernames and passwords are the same as they were for online registration), please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Oops Bags and Emergency Lunches
Please make sure your child has an "oops bag" (lower elementary) and an emergency lunch at school in case your child needs one of those items! Because of the extreme changes in weather, please coach your child in taking layers home each day to be ready for the chilly mornings.
If you child is having a birthday, we'd love to celebrate them at school with a birthday circle. Please contact his/her advisor to discuss details. Also please remember in our small community that we ask you to refrain from birthday invitations or mass pick ups at school to preserve all feelings. Kids can be coached to talk about these plans outside of school. Thank you!
Thanks to Libby Hall for getting us started on snacks last week.
