Spelling Champs
The elementary represented well at the Scripps Spelling Bee. Third through eighth grade students competed and the top two finishers were Valeria Morales (4th grade) in second place and Frank Daly (5th grade) as the champion. Frank will go to Rock Springs in March to compete in the state-wide bee. Congratulations! We are also very proud of: Addie, August, Hayes, Chloe, Augustine, and Avery for competing.

We are excited to experience project-based and place-based learning about animal communities (K-1), simple machines and the industrial revolution (2-3), and diverse communities and service (4-5). Thank you so much to all of the parents who made or brought extra snacks to help keep kids energized, and to the parents who came in to school to share family traditions and cultural history or opened up their homes for the night!

2nd and 3rd Grade Musical!
The second and third graders have been working on putting together a musical for performance on March 7th starting at 2:35 in the Dining Lodge.  The play is called "Dreamcatcher" and is about encouraging children to reach for their dreams. We hope elementary families can join us.  All are welcome.

Valentine's Day and Kind Leaders
We had a great celebration of friendship on Valentine's Day by learning about how to genuinely compliment one another. We also celebrated students who had been nominated by classmates as "kind leaders" in our community. Congratulations to: Taya, Maclaren, Sean, Whit, Annabel, Josie, and Quinn O. for being recognized as kind leaders. Their pictures will go up in the hallway.

Engineers Week
In celebration of National Engineers Week, Brian Lenz will visit our 2/3 science class on Wednesday, February 22nd to lead a hands-on activity. Brian is a professional engineer for the Town of Jackson, just one of many who will visit 3rd grade classrooms to highlight how engineers make a difference in the world by bringing engineering to life for students, educators, and parents. Spanish Class Journeys
Some of Kjera's Spanish classes have been preparing for the "salsa" celebration by visiting local restaurants to learn how to prepare salsa and Dancers Workshop will be coming to Journeys School to teach salsa dancing. Fantastico!

Thank you to Leah and Norene, Kit and Cindy Daly for helping with snacks and rags this week, and coming up on 2/24: Heidi and Amanda!
