SHIFTING our Ideas
Journeys Elementary welcomed Robbie Bond, fourth-grade founder of Kids Speak for Parks, and his parents to our classrooms this Monday and Tuesday. Robbie is traveling around the country learning about, and educating others about, public lands. He is a speaker at the SHIFT conference and our upper elementary students will be going to support him Wednesday afternoon during his talk. Students also participated in a 60 second documentary about being an "unstoppable" voice for our parks and all elementary students took part in a presentation by Robbie and got to ask him lots of questions. We feel lucky that we got to meet Robbie and his parents and make wonderful learning connections as well as make new friends!
Change the Channel Drama Production
The 4-5 Drama group will be presenting an informal production of "Change the Channel" on Wednesday, November 8th at 2:30 in the elementary building. The elementary students and 4-5 parents are invited to be the audience.
Next Friday, November 10th is the end of the first trimester. Teachers will be working on reports that afternoon after the students leave early at 12:15. Expect trimester reports to be sent home mid-November.
Thank you for participating in the Chili Cook-Off. Way to go, Journeys School!
Thanks to Kate for all of her organizing in our elementary library. Thanks also to our parent reps and parents who helped out with Halloween, Author's Teas, and Dia de los Muertos. Thanks to Vonde and Lisen for snacks and rags last week and to Heidi for taking that on this week! Next up on 11/10 is Aimee. We appreciate you!
