Thursday, May 12 (Tentative Date)
In the coming weeks, 9th and 10th grade students will begin an integrated unit in their science, social studies, and English classes focusing on the relationships between humans and ‘beasts’ and the areas where they often interact—ecotones. In order to facilitate the integration of the classes and allow for more in-depth exploration of our topic, the faculty would like to lead students on an overnight journey in mid-May. We intend to use this field time to meet with large carnivore biologists, storytellers, ranchers and other experts that can inform our studies. We are tentatively planning on camping out either at the Gros Ventre or Atherton Creek campgrounds on the evening of Thursday, May 12th. We would leave school that morning and return to the Jackson Campus by regular dismissal time on Friday the 13th. 9th and 10th grade parents will receive a more detailed message outlining trip logistics, curriculum and a packing list in the near future. We look forward to this learning adventure with your children! (This trip is in addition to the 9th - 11th grade Spring Journey to Bozeman that will take place May 24-27.)
