End of Fall Semester
The end of the first semester is January 20th. Students are finalizing summative assessment and faculty are completing grading and comments. Look for report cards in the mail in early February.

Healthy Relationships, Gender Stereotypes, Media, and Social Skills

Currently, in our Leadership class, students are working with the Community Safety Network and GAP (Girls Actively Participate) to work on skills, knowledge, and dispositions related to healthy relationships, gender stereotypes, media, and social skills. This programming is in its 3rd week and will conclude in two more weeks.

The middle school chess club is in full swing. Every day students are playing dozens of games of chess during their free time. Every Wednesday there is a student organized chess club after school from 3:45 - 4:45. Students should communicate with Wyatt Kern if they are interested in participating in this activity.

Ski Days!

Ski days are taking place this Friday, January 20th and next Friday, January 27th. Look to your email for more information and the liability form.

You are cordially invited to the JSMS first annual HACKATHON (not the malicious kind)! Over the past month, students have been exploring creative computing with Harvard Graduate School of Ed's programming platform called Scratch. They have honed their computational thinking and learned increasingly sophisticated coding techniques to code their own music videos, games, and stories. Over the next three weeks during the HACKATHON, students will pursue an open-ended project where they plan and design a programming project of their choosing. Join us on Thursday, January 26th from 2:15-3:00 in the MS South classroom to explore and interact with 6th and 7th grade Design students' projects! You can vote for awards, including "Most Creative," "Most Technical" and "Audience Favorite," among others! E-mail Katelynn (katelynn.clement@journeysschool.org) with any questions - hope to see you there!
