We are excited to start another year with all of our new and returning families! By now you should have received a phone call or had a home visit with your child's advisor. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Erin, Erin.Solomon@journeysschool.org, Emmy, Emmy.Kean@journeysschool.org (her email address will be changing soon to email@example.com) , or Paige, Paige.Fisher@journeysschool.org.
Please make sure to fill out paperwork on the Journeys School website. For licensing purposes, we need all paperwork signed and returned before the start of school. We need an updated medical information form, a risk and release form from each parent, photo release form, dentist contact information form, a pick-up authorization form and a sunscreen authorization form. If you have any questions about paperwork, please direct them to Sam Kitchen, Sam.Kitchen@journeysschool.org.
We have updated our supply list this year and encourage you to look carefully through all the items we’ve designated as important to bring to school. Please make sure to bring them on the first day of school or before, and direct questions to your child’s advisor. The supply list can be located on the Journeys School website.
We are asking that all your child’s belongings are labeled at the start of school. This includes anything from socks to lunch containers. Labeling is an immense help for both the children and teachers in being able to distinguish what belongs to each child. It can also help children take responsibility for their own belongings and making sure they get back into their cubbies. Parents have had positive feedback for using “namebubbles” labels. Here is a link to the website: http://www.namebubbles.com/Default.aspx. A permanent marker would also work well. Thank you in advance for labeling all of your child’s belongings.
Every week a family will bring healthy, organic snacks to share with the class. We encourage fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese sticks, and other fresh foods. A schedule, along with a list of great examples of snacks can be found in your child’s folder at school. Reminders will be posted here (in Friday announcements) weekly. Please let Paige know if your family has a conflict with the week you are scheduled.
We will provide snack for the first two weeks of school (week of August 31st and September 6th). The Everett Family is scheduled to bring in snack for the week of September 12th. Below is a reminder for upcoming weeks:
September 17th: Asher Reimer
September 26th: Addison May
Thank you families for providing delicious fresh options for your children!
The aim of the afterschool program is to provide activities that engage and enrich the lives of young children through exploration and project work. Each month we will provide a calendar of events and themes striving to provide variety. Activities will vary with the season and children’s interests, but may include: hiking, gardening, nordic skiing, sledding, woodworking, ceramics, painting, and more. The afterschool program is available to all students in grades pre-k through 2nd from 3:30-5:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Please note that we are not able to offer afterschool care on Wednesdays due to faculty meetings and faculty children needing priority on these days. The afterschool program will be run out of the pre-k space in the back of the Welcome Center building. Drop-in cost is $30/day and pre-registration cost is $20/day. More information will be coming out to families soon. Please contact Erin for more information and to sign up, Erin.Solomon@journeysschool.org.
