Journeys School Students take MLK Day ON!
Monday, January 16

To celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the American Civil Rights Movement, the Journeys School faculty and staff will be taking the day “on” next Monday, January 16th. Classes will be held according to regular schedules for the first half of the day. During the second half of the day, the entire school will come together in Family Groups to celebrate diversity within ourselves and our greater community. After some ice-breaker activities exploring personal histories, students will work together to craft “I am” poems along with self-portraits. The poems and portraits will ultimately be put into Family Group poetry books to be on display at Community Lunch and shared among levels. On Thursday, January 12th, students were given a short assignment to discuss with their families over the weekend to prepare for Monday’s activities. Thank you for your support of the important learning and celebration that occurs across our entire country on this special day!
