Welcome to Mardy's Front Porch
Olaus and Mardy Murie hosted some of the nation’s most influential conservationists on their front porch. Teton Science Schools continues the tradition by gathering on Mardy’s front porch to host discussions and performers connected to nature, conservation, and the Murie legacy. This summer, the Murie Front Porch Concerts and Conversations will host the Grand Teton Music Festival, local musicians, and speakers who are experts in their field. Please join us for seven distinct evening programs this summer.
Admission to this event is FREE, but please RSVP here. Rain/warm layers are advised. Lawn chairs are optional. Parking is limited; We highly encourage you to park at the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitors Center, which is a short walk to the Murie Ranch.

2023 Featured Presenters
Tuesday, June 27th: Presenting Theresa Salazar, archivist and curator of the Bancroft Collection of Western Americana at Berkeley Library at University of California. She will discuss Mardy Murie and other women’s roles in the conservation movement.
Monday, July 10th: Grand Teton Music Festival: The Spirit of Nature: Huckleberry String Quartet hosted by Meaghan Heinrich. Composers have long been influenced by the scenes and soundscapes of the natural world all around us. Experience the Spirit of Nature and its effect on music as the Huckleberry Quartet performs works by Grieg, Haydn, Tchaikovsky, and Ravel.
Tuesday, July 25th: Presenting Walker Young, local singer and songwriter. Walker Young is an internationally recognized musician who has played intimate performances and sold-out stadium tours across the country over the past couple decades. In his band, Truth & Salvage Company, his musicianship was celebrated by USA Today, Rolling Stone, and Glide who wrote “Their record comes off more like a greatest hits album.” Walker is a singer, pianist, and songwriter whose breadth of work illuminates themes of peace, love, and the unifying spirit of humanity and nature.
Tuesday, August 1st: Grand Teton Music Festival: Mozart Divertimento Septet hosted by Meaghan Heinrich. Festival Orchestra musicians speak to the inspiration and rejuvenation that they experience every summer making music in this stunning setting. The audience will also get to peek inside the artistic process as the musicians prepare and rehearse Mozart’s Divertimento. Listen to conversations and ask questions about how seven musicians come together to create one beautiful piece of music.
Tuesday, August 15th: Evan Griffith, Children’s Book Author and Editor. Evan Griffith is the author of several children’s books, including Wild at Heart: The Story of Olaus and Mardy Murie, Defenders of Nature, illustrated biography of the Murie’s that will be published in 2024. Tuesday, August 22nd: Presenting Marmot Ate My Boots, Jackson-born string band that play an assortment of acoustic originals and covers of classic folk, bluegrass, and Americana (as well as the occasional disco or 90s hit).
Tuesday, August 29th: Presenting Isaac Hayden, nationally acclaimed singer and songwriter. Isaac Hayden finds inspiration in his surroundings after being raised on the San Juan Islands in Washington State and Jackson, Wyoming.
