Spring Wolf and Bear Tour

In the spring, the landscape abounds with feathered, furry and fuzzy offspring! During this three-day tour, our experienced guides will lead you to the best sites for viewing these animals.

In the spring, bears are waking up from their long winter naps. Wolves are active around dens with their pups. Bison are venturing out with their rusty colored calves. Foxes are teaching their kits to hunt and pounce. The landscape abounds with feathered, furry and fuzzy offspring! During this three-day tour, we will enjoy the budding flora and geothermal features of Yellowstone National Park. This trip may include stops at Old Faithful, the colorful Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and the terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs.

Day 1: Your expedition begins at sunrise in the lobby of your chosen accommodation in Jackson, Wyoming. From the town of Jackson you’ll journey north* through Grand Teton National Park, searching for moose, elk, bears and other wildlife. Following a mid-morning brunch, you will head into Yellowstone National Park–the world’s first National Park. The mid day hours will be spent exploring the geothermal basin near Old Faithful.  After seeing the famous geyser erupt, you will continue to the scenic Lamar Valley, where you will spend time searching for bears and wolves. You will enjoy a light field dinner as we search for wildlife. You’ll spend the twilight hours continuing to search for wildlife before driving to Cooke City, Montana, where you will spend the night.

**Late April and early May departures will access Yellowstone via West Yellowstone, MT not via Grand Teton National Park.

Day 2: You will rise early to return to the Lamar Valley – famed as America’s Serengeti” – in hopes of witnessing the morning hunt. A light field breakfast will be provided. Later in the day, you will have a chance to explore the ecosystem on foot. While hiking, we’ll search for tracks and other signs of wildlife. During the late afternoon and evening hours you will continue to search for and observe wildlife from the comfort of our customized Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans. After dark you will return to Cooke City for dinner and then rest up for your final day.

Day 3: You’ll depart Cooke City early in the morning and swing through the Lamar Valley one last time to search for bears, wolves and other wildlife.  Afterwards, you will tour Hayden Valley, a favored habitat for grizzly bears and bison. Your return trip may include stops at the colorful Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, crowned by a waterfall more than twice the height of Niagara Falls. You’ll return to Jackson in the early evening. Your guide will drop you off at your place of lodging and bid you farewell.

*South Entrance of Yellowstone closed. Tours will travel through eastern Idaho and enter Yellowstone National Park through the west entrance in West Yellowstone, MT.

If you are staying in one of those locations and wish to join a group tour, your pick-up location will be the Home Ranch Parking Lot in Jackson. If you wish to book a private tour with a pick-up north of Jackson, a pick-up fee will apply.

Forms to Fill out Prior to Tour – Please bring completed forms with you on the day of your tour.

Multi-day Tour Cancellation Policy: All multi-day tours require a minimum of a 50% deposit upon booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the scheduled departure. Cancellations within 31-60 days of the scheduled departure forfeit all paid deposit. All cancellations within 30 days of the scheduled departure forfeit the entire trip cost.
