Winter Wildlife and Wolves of Yellowstone Tour

Our 7-Day Winter Wolves tour is the premier wolf-viewing tour in the Rockies and Yellowstone. This tour is designed for guests who want an immersive, winter wildlife expedition.

Over the course of seven days, we will explore Jackson Hole, take a sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge, see the sunrise in the Tetons, travel by snowcoach through Yellowstone National Park, and search for wildlife in America’s serengeti. Throughout the trip, our professional guides will tailor the itinerary to your interests and share their knowledge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Day 1: Welcome to Jackson Hole!

Upon arriving to Jackson, Wyoming, you’ll check into the Lexington Hotel. You’ll meet your guide and fellow travelers and dine at the famous Wort Hotel. Over dinner, you’ll receive a thorough orientation. Your guide will go over the itinerary in detail and answer any questions you may have. Following dinner, you will be transported back to the Lexington Hotel in one of our customized Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans.

Day 2: Grand Teton National Park, Art & Sleigh

You’ll officially begin your tour with a morning of wildlife watching in Grand Teton National Park.  Afterwards, you’ll have lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy a docent-led tour of the National Museum of Wildlife Art. In the afternoon, you’ll go on a private, horse-drawn sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge, observing wild elk up close. In the evening, you will be free to explore downtown Jackson. Dinner will be on your own.

Day 3: Travel to Yellowstone

You’ll wake early to depart for Yellowstone National Park. You will continue searching for wildlife as you head north through Grand Teton National Park toward Yellowstone–America’s first National Park. At the South Entrance of Yellowstone, you will transition from a wheeled-vehicle into our custom Mercedes-Benz snowcoaches. From there you will embark on the Yellowstone portion of the tour. In the afternoon you will visit Old Faithful as well as other geothermal features.

Day 4: Northern Range

On this day you will travel from Old Faithful to Mammoth Hot Springs via snowcoach. After exploring the geothermal features of Mammoth Hot Springs, you will transition into a wheeled vehicle and drive to Cooke City, Montana. Along the way you will have a chance to search for wildlife in the Lamar Valley, famed as “America’s serengeti.”

Day 5: Northern Range of Yellowstone

You will spend this day searching northern Yellowstone for wild wolves. Lamar Valley is famous for its wolves but you may also see golden eagles, coyotes, bighorn sheep, foxes, bison and possibly moose. You’ll have an opportunity to explore the Lamar Valley via snowshoe. In the afternoon, you’ll visit with local photographer Dan Hartman to learn more about the wildlife of the region and visit his gallery. You will have one more chance to spot wildlife before returning to Cooke City for dinner.

Day 6: Lamar Valley, Paradise Valley, and Bozeman

This will be the final day of the tour. The morning hours will be spent searching for wildlife in Lamar Valley. After eating lunch near Mammoth Hot Springs, you will depart for Bozeman, Montana. You will stop to search for wildlife in Paradise Valley. In the evening you’ll celebrate the tour with your fellow travelers and your guide as you share a farewell dinner.

Day 7: Departure from Bozeman Airport

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel and a shuttle will be offered to Bozeman Gallatin Field Airport Montana for departure flights.

Forms to Fill out Prior to Tour – Please bring completed forms with you on the day of your tour.

Multi-day Tour Cancellation Policy: All multi-day tours require a minimum of a 50% deposit upon booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the scheduled departure. Cancellations within 31-60 days of the scheduled departure forfeit all paid deposit. All cancellations within 30 days of the scheduled departure forfeit the entire trip cost.
