Did You Know? Plein Air Paintings on Display at the Welcome Center

Next time you stop by the Jackson Campus Welcome Center, take a moment to look around; you’ll find a beautiful collection of plein air paintings by local artists who share a deep love for Wyoming’s wild and open spaces. The works currently on display are created by members of the Teton Plein Air Painters, including Jude Chilen, Andy Taylor, Susan Marsh, and Bobbi Miller.

These artists are all deeply rooted in the landscapes they paint. Jude Chilen, a Dubois resident, finds inspiration on the Teton Crest Trail in the Wind River Range, as well as during backcountry ski outings, capturing both representational and abstract impressions of the places she explores. Bobbi Miller resides in Buffalo Valley, near Moran, and is well-known for founding the Teton Plein Air Painters. Her sketchbooks and oil paintings are full of the textures, colors, and moods of the land she calls home.

In addition to the Welcome Center exhibit, Jude and Bobbi will be featured in a special dual exhibition hosted by the Wind River Valley Arts Guild. This exhibit celebrates their friendship and shared passion for Wyoming’s landscapes. You can join them for an opening reception on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 5–7 PM at the Guild’s new gallery in downtown Dubois: 118 East Ramshorn Street.

The exhibit runs through August 8, 2025, and the gallery is open Thursday through Monday, 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM. Please call ahead at 307-455-3404, as the space is still in transition.

Both Jude and Bobbi recently participated in the National Museum of Wildlife Art’s 2025 Plein Air Fest, where their work was enthusiastically received and sold. They bring a sense of place, passion, and friendship to their paintings, and we’re honored to share them with visitors through this local exhibit.

Whether you’re a regular or just passing through, we hope you’ll pause to enjoy the fruits of their labor and the landscapes they so lovingly portray.
