— An Unforgettable Learning Adventure for Lifelong Explorers —
Teton Science Schools is proud to partner with Road Scholar to offer a one-of-a-kind learning adventure in the heart of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. This summer, we invite curious and active older adults to join us for “Choose Your Pace: Hiking in Grand Teton and Yellowstone,” a program that combines education, exploration, and community in one of the country’s most iconic landscapes.
Embark on an unforgettable week of discovery as you explore the trails of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, guided by expert educators from Teton Science Schools. Each day, choose your level of hiking challenge and venture into the landscape at your own pace. You’ll hike through geyser basins and meadows, ascend mountains, and observe the dynamic geology and wildlife of this remarkable region.
Program highlights include:
- Experiencing Yellowstone’s Old Faithful Geyser Basin, home to world-famous geysers, fumaroles, and hot springs.
- Discovering the rich biodiversity of an ecosystem with one of the highest concentrations of large mammals in North America.
- Riding the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain, 4,139 feet above the valley floor, for breathtaking alpine views
- Engaging evening programs focused on wildlife biology, ecology, and the current issues facing the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or prefer a more moderate pace, you’ll find the right fit through small-group options tailored to different activity levels. Each step of the way, you’ll be guided by passionate naturalists and educators who help make this place come alive through the lens of place-based learning.
A Program with Purpose — and Possibility
This program is made possible through the partnership between Road Scholar, a nonprofit organization dedicated to lifelong learning, and Teton Science Schools, a leader in place-based education in the American West. Together, we offer enriching educational experiences that connect people to the natural world and each other.
And if you’re a current or retired educator, you may be eligible for financial support through Road Scholar’s Aide for Educators scholarship.
