Ruth Glass

Ruth is honored to be nominated to join the Board of Trustees of Teton Science Schools and to support the school’s mission, drawing on a lifetime of independent education. Over forty-six years, she served in nine independent schools across the country as a classroom teacher, Middle School Head, and Head of School.

Her professional experience began in the classroom, where she taught students from Preschool through High School, with the greatest emphasis on Middle School. Ruth served as a classroom teacher from 1972 to 1986, held middle school leadership roles at The Langley School and Columbus Academy from 1986 to 2001, and then served as Head of School at The Odyssey Program, The Wesley School, Calmont School, and Lake Tahoe School from 2001 to 2018.

Throughout her career, Ruth also remained actively involved in the broader independent school community through service with the Association of Schools of Greater Washington, the Virginia Association of Independent Schools, the National Association of Independent Schools, and the Northwest Association of Independent Schools. She co-founded and co-directed the New Teacher Institute, chaired a professional development committee, and served on boards including Sun Valley Community School and WestEd.

Ruth holds a B.A. in Education from the University of Arizona and an M.A. in School Supervision from Ashland University. She brings to board service a deep respect for strong governance, educational mission, and the partnership among trustees, school leadership, faculty, and families.

She is honored to contribute to TSS’s continued success and to carry forward her family’s legacy in the Jackson Hole Community.
