Become a Wildlife Scientist This Winter: Weekends in the Park for 5th Graders

This winter and spring, Teton Science Schools invites curious 5th graders to step into the role of wildlife scientist through Weekends in the Park, a three-day, two-night adventure rooted in science, exploration, and discovery in and around Grand Teton National Park.

Designed specifically for 5th graders, Weekends in the Park offers students the chance to explore winter ecosystems, build scientific skills, and deepen their connection to place, all while spending an unforgettable weekend outdoors with peers and experienced instructors.

Learning Through Exploration

During this immersive weekend experience, students will:

  • Ski and snowshoe through winter landscapes

  • Track wildlife and monitor local red fox populations

  • Learn how scientists observe, document, and interpret animal behavior

  • Ask big questions about ecosystems, adaptation, and conservation

Each activity is grounded in hands-on science and guided inquiry, encouraging students to learn by doing while fostering curiosity and confidence in the outdoors.
