October 9–11, 2026 | The Murie Ranch This fall, the Murie Ranch will welcome artists, writers, families, and community members for a three-day celebration of creativity and the natural world. Hosted by Teton Science Schools from October 9–11, the Murie Ranch Art Festival will feature artist-led workshops, live demonstrations, speakers, kids’ activities, local art and food vendors, and a closing community reception, all within the historic landscape of Grand Teton National Park. “The Murie Ranch has long been a place where people gather to exchange ideas, find inspiration and deepen their connection to the natural world,” said Wayne Turner, Executive Director of Teton Science Schools. “This festival continues that tradition by inviting our community to experience the ranch through art, creativity and conversation.” Inspired by Olaus Murie The festival draws inspiration from Olaus Murie’s legacy as both a scientist and artist. His research on Jackson Hole’s elk herd informed his advocacy for expanding Grand Teton National Park to protect migration habitat. His wildlife paintings and influential writings, including A Field Guide to Animal Tracks, also helped generations of readers better understand the natural world. Meet Artist in Residence Sarah Yeoman This year’s featured Artist in Residence is Sarah Yeoman, an award-winning watercolorist recognized for the strength of her storytelling and her ability to capture the fleeting qualities of light. Yeoman has painted with watercolor for more than 35 years and describes the medium as her clearest creative voice. Her early career as a singer-songwriter continues to influence the lyrical qualities of her work. Throughout the festival, visitors will have opportunities to meet Yeoman, watch her work, and learn about her creative process. Festival Highlights Community partners will bring a range of creative perspectives to the weekend, including the National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson Hole Writers, Mountain Academy and the Teton Plein Air Painters—a group of local artists who gather throughout the year to capture the region’s changing seasons and iconic landscapes.

Friday, October 9: Explore specimen painting with Andy Taylor, join a watercolor demonstration and community painting with Sarah Yeoman, create nature buttons with the National Museum of Wildlife Art, and take part in Celebrating the Unremarkable Wild, a nature-writing workshop with Matt Daly and Jackson Hole Writers. -
Saturday, October 10: Participate in a plein air oil painting workshop with Andy Taylor, enjoy family activities, watch Yeoman work in the Murie Studio, and hear historian Bill Deverell discuss depictions of the American West.

Sunday, October 11: Browse art and food vendors, view Mountain Academy student artwork, try nature block printing with Katy Ann Fox and enjoy kids’ activities, demonstrations and Murie Ranch tours. The weekend will conclude with a community reception featuring art, music, food and readings from the writing workshop.
Registration General festival events and activities are free and open to the community. Artist-led workshops are $35 per participant and include supplies and a festival T-shirt. Advance registration is encouraged, as workshop space is limited. Register for a workshop.
