Allison Swan

A Wyoming native, Allison grew up exploring the outdoors and cultivating a deep sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world. She holds a BA/BSc dual degree from The Evergreen State College, where she continued to broaden her connection with nature through research in ethnobotany, mycology, ornithology, and forest ecology. These studies intertwined science and art, where observational data were recorded in nature journals alongside sketches and watercolor paintings.

Allison has been fortunate to work with young people for many years. She believes children are competent, whole humans with endless potential, and loves to help children build resilience, empathy, and self-advocacy skills. Most of all, Allison loves to share moments of wonder and awe with young learners; the sense of wonder is a powerful emotion that calms the nervous system and connects us to the mysteries and beauty of life.

In her spare time, Allison enjoys hiking, reading, birding, training her companion dog, and practicing sustainable foraging and subsistence hunting.
