Passion. Challenge. Creativity. These three traits are what Ted brings every day as a teacher at our Jackson Campus as a K-8 Spanish and Performing Arts teacher and at Teton Valley as a K-5 Spanish teacher. Having been an educator in multiple settings, grade levels, and course disciplines for over thirty years, he is excited for my return to the Teton science school model, connecting students to people, places, and nature on BOTH sides of the pass.
For the past 31 years, Ted has taught K-5 and 9-12 in Minnesota, California, and Idaho. As a dual immersion teacher at Rendezvous for three years, he has collaborated with teachers from around the world, such as Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Spain, and Mexico. While in California, he taught English Language Arts to predominantly second-language high school learners. Some of the accolades Ted is most proud of in teaching are Human Rights Teacher of the Year (2018), LA County Teacher of the Year (2015), and WE Teacher of the Year (a program creating service-learning opportunities for kids of multiple ages and backgrounds)in my first years teaching here in Idaho in 2018-2019.
He has taught and directed theater at the elementary level (K-5) in California and at the high school level at Teton High School. I will never forget the eight years I spent impacting youth across the Teton Valley as I joyfully embark on my new journey here with the Teton Science Schools.
Throughout my many years of teaching, I have never forgotten my humble beginnings growing up in rural Wisconsin outside of Milwaukee and carrying on my thirst for knowledge while at St. Olaf College in Minnesota and earning a master’s at Cal State Fullerton in Southern California. I currently reside in Tetonia with my spouse and my adorable dog Tito. 🙂
