Teton Science Schools to Suspend Operations through April 10

Public Health Remains #1 Priority for 15,000 Learner Organization

Jackson, WY – In an effort to mitigate further spread of COVID-19, Teton Science Schools announced today that it will suspend all in-person programming between Monday, March 16 and Friday, April 10. This decision affects the Preschool-12 students of Mountain Academy (in Jackson and Teton Valley), our Graduate and AmeriCorps programs, all visiting school groups and wildlife tour participants.

“With an impact on 15,000 learners every year, Teton Science Schools feels tremendous responsibility for the health and wellness of adults and children throughout Wyoming and Idaho, extending beyond every state and across national borders,” said TSS Executive Director Chris Agnew. “We made this difficult decision only after lengthy, deliberate and thoughtful consideration. Given the imperative to protect public health and ensure unencumbered access to health care services in our remote community, we feel this is the most prudent approach.”

As one of the largest employers in our region, TSS is committed to supporting and valuing our faculty and staff while sustaining the integrity of the organization. We are doing careful financial planning to support the security and stability for its more than 200 faculty and staff.

Staff on TSS campuses next week will be focusing on winding down operations and planning beyond April 11th. Mountain Academy faculty is preparing distance learning lesson plans in anticipation of classes resuming remotely on Monday, March 16.
