Get outside and get curious! From early childhood adventures to high school backpacking expeditions, Teton Science Schools summer programs immerse your child in outdoor exploration and place-based learning. With experienced instructors leading the way, campers will build social-emotional skills, forge new friendships, and dive into fun weekly themes. Whether it’s exploring Grand Teton National Park, discovering local public lands, or engaging in exciting activities on our Jackson and Teton Valley campuses, every day is an opportunity for discovery, growth, and unforgettable traditions.

PIKAS
Early Childhood Ages 3 to 4 years
Pikas will connect with nature and each other through exploration and play. Activities can include spending time building fairy houses, getting our hands dirty in our outdoor studio, searching for small critters, and journeying to R Park.
Additional Information: This program is for children 3 to 4 years old. Children must be potty-trained to participate. There will be 1 hour of rest and relaxation each day. This program takes place on the Jackson Campus.

OTTERS
Early Childhood - Entering Kindergarten
Almost ready for Kindergarten, Otters will collaborate with peers and get curious about the world around them. Activities can include cooking in the mud kitchen, taking care of our garden, creating in our outdoor studio, and journeying to R Park and Grand Teton National Park.
Additional Information: This program is for children 5 to 6 years old. Children must be entering Kindergarten in the Fall of 2025 to participate in Otters. Children will go on 2-3 journeys each week, and there will be 45 minutes of rest and relaxation each day. This program takes place on the Jackson Campus.

Teton Valley Campus Beavers
Early Childhood Ages 3 to 5 years
The Teton Valley Campus Beavers will learn about their unique Eastern Idaho environment through their time on campus, which includes our garden, cats, chickens, and goats, as well as through journeys to nearby parks and outdoor spaces. Beavers will be able to get creative and drive their own play in our outdoor play yard full of tools and toys ready for their imagination.
Additional Information: This program is for children ages 3 to 5 years old. Children must be potty-trained to participate. There will be 1 hour of rest time each day. This program takes place on the Teton Valley Campus in Victor, ID. This campus is a 40-minute drive from Jackson.

MARMOTS
Entering Grade 1
With Kindergarten under their belts, Marmots are ready to let their curiosity run wild this summer! They’ll dive into local ecosystems, step into the role of young scientists, and embrace endless fun with new friends. Activities include cooking up creations in the mud kitchen, crafting nature-inspired art, engaging in explorative play in nature, and discovering the beauty of nearby streams and ponds. It’s a summer full of adventure, creativity, and exploration!
Additional Information: Marmots have at least two field days each week. Campers must have already completed kindergarten to be a Marmot. You can take a look at our weekly themes.

FOXES
Entering Grade 2
Inquisitive foxes will follow their noses to topics that spark their curiosity, diving into the wonders of the natural world through hands-on exploration, creative art, and engaging scientific discovery. Whether racing stick-boats in local streams, crafting at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, or catching critters in local waterways, every day offers thrilling new adventures designed to inspire a lifelong love of nature and science. This outdoor experience provides young explorers with the perfect opportunity to learn, play, and connect with nature.

BADGERS
Entering Grade 3
Playful and curious badgers dive deep into cooperative teamwork as they ask questions and seek answers about the natural world. Through outdoor and scientific exploration, rising 3rd graders will build skills and confidence to become outdoor leaders, with endless opportunities for adventure! Badgers will explore farther on trails and foster leadership skills by tackling team-building challenges on the Doug Walker Challenge Course, Teton Science Schools’ low-ropes obstacle course.

COYOTES & BISON
Entering Grade 4 and 5
Excitement and adventure await our 4th (Coyote) and 5th (Bison) campers as they embark on an immersive summer experience focused on leadership, collaboration, and discovery! Together, the Coyote & Bison group will enhance their skills in data collection and analysis, all while embracing thrilling outdoor challenges. Picture this: identifying macroinvertebrates, hiking through stunning landscapes, canoeing on String Lake, and building confidence and collaboration through team-building challenges. This summer is all about learning, growing, and creating lasting memories with an inspiring community!
Additional Information: Coyotes & Bison have at least four field days each week. Thursdays are canoeing days at String Lake. One day spent conquering the Doug Walker Challenge Course, an engaging low-ropes obstacle course. Explore a sneak peek of our weekly themes.

WOLVES - Jackson Hole Pack
Day Program, Entering Grades 6-7
Emerging as outdoor leaders and scientists, middle school students entering 6th and 7th grade will have an exciting summer full of adventure! Campers will embark on a scientific exploration while developing teamwork and leadership skills. Wolves will gather and analyze data, contribute to local community science research, challenge themselves on adventure hikes, camp under the stars in Grand Teton National Park, and foster team building on Teton Science Schools’ low rope obstacle course. This summer focuses on developing leadership skills, building confidence, and embracing new challenges!
Additional Information: Wolves (day programs) have five field days each week. Wednesdays will be one night camping at Colter Bay Campground in Grand Teton National Park. Explore a sneak peek of our weekly themes.

WOLVES - Yellowstone Pack
Overnight Program, Entering Grades 6-7
Are you curious about Yellowstone wolf families? Have you wondered about how a geyser works? Spend 8 days in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem to discover these answers and more! Wolves will be able to construct a student-led research project that will spark a passion for field science and finding answers. To conclude the program, Wolves will embark on a 3-night front-country camping trip to explore one of the United States’ National Wonders: Yellowstone National Park. Please note that this program requires students to carry a day pack (approximately 10 lbs) for 3 to 4 miles over uneven terrain each day.

BEARS
Entering Grades 8-9
Do you enjoy working in a team? Would you like to enhance your adaptability skills? These are traits not only needed by an effective backpacker, but a rising high schooler as well! Our program will allow students to build confidence in themselves and practical leadership skills. Join us for a 3-night backpacking trip through the backcountry of Grand Teton National Park and put your skills to the test! Please note that this program requires students to carry a ~50-pound pack for approximately 15 miles over multiple days, traversing uneven terrain.

JACKSON HOLE SCIENCE EXPEDITION
Entering Grades 10-12
Become part of a historic legacy by joining the program that started Teton Science Schools in 1967! Immerse yourself in the study of the natural sciences in one of the most beautiful and ecologically complex wilderness areas in North America. Alongside knowledgeable instructors, you will sharpen your analytical thinking and scientific skills, then conduct field research projects through hands-on exploration of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Your experience culminates with a backpacking trip in Jackson Hole. The program and lodging are based at the Kelly Campus in Grand Teton National Park, along with 5 nights of front-country camping and 4 nights of backcountry camping. 26 days, 25 nights.
