Katherine Wombwell is an Education Fellow at Teton Science Schools, where she helps facilitate place-based outdoor education programs. She holds a degree in Outdoor Recreation from Montreat College and is a certified North Carolina Environmental Educator and National Association for Interpretation Certified Interpretive Guide. Throughout college, Katherine assisted in running outdoor programs for a variety of groups and helped facilitate environmental education experiences. She also developed and led the Outdoor Recreation Studies COMPASS Program, a week-long summer experience focused on outdoor leadership and experiential learning. Her deep interest in place-based education has shaped both her academic studies and personal explorations, reinforcing her belief that meaningful connections to the land inspire curiosity and care for the natural world. Katherine enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible—whether backpacking, exploring new landscapes, or simply sharing good conversation with friends in nature. She is always eager to learn more about the places she calls home, believing that a deeper understanding of the land fosters a stronger sense of stewardship and connection to it.
