JACKSON, WY. – Teton Science Schools (TSS) announced that Sandy Chio has been appointed their Chief Business Officer, effective September 8, 2020. Chio is currently the Admissions & Marketing Director at NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) in Lander, WY.

As Chief Business Officer, Chio will join the TSS Executive Team and serve as the organization’s senior sales and marketing leader. “Sandy brings two decades of experience in tourism, travel and non-profits,” said TSS Executive Director, Chris Agnew. “Her blend of experience will be a strong asset in attracting more students, schools, and educators from across the world to the power and impact of transformative place-based education. We are so excited for Sandy to join the TSS team.”

TSS began the hiring process for a Chief Business Officer in the fall of 2019, but had to pause their search for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. TSS was able to resume the process in June, ultimately resulting in Chio’s appointment at the beginning of August.

“I feel so fortunate to be joining this incredible organization at such a critical moment. For Teton Science Schools to invest in its leadership team in these times of uncertainty, speaks volumes of the organization’s resilience and commitment to its students, faculty and community,” said Chio.”TSS embodies the true qualities of the communities it serves and I look forward to furthering its mission and expanding the reach of transformative place-based education.”

Chio is excited to join Jackson’s thriving ski community with her husband, Steve, and son, Rye.
