“We are excited for the future at Teton Science Schools and are announcing our search for the next leader of Teton Science Schools.” shared Board Chair Leah Corrigan. “Teton Science Schools has a long history of leading the movement for place-based education, and this education has never been more critical. We are committed to finding a President who can steward and expand our work with a strategic mindset and community-centered approach.”
“Teton Science Schools has been through a number of changes in the last five years, and we are looking forward to selecting a leader who is inspired by our mission and ready to steward Teton Science Schools’ programs into the future. Our Board of Directors has worked closely with our senior staff over the last months, focusing our efforts on ensuring effective execution of our mission: Inspiring curiosity, engagement, and leadership through transformative place-based education.” said Corrigan. “We are searching for a President who will provide inspiring leadership and strategic direction for the Teton Science Schools team. This individual will be someone who embraces our mission and values, and is ready to work daily to build strong relationships with our community and partners.”
Teton Science Schools has a diverse set of programs, which began over fifty years ago with place-based field education within and in partnership with Grand Teton National Park. Today, Teton Science Schools executes its place-based mission within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem through its Outdoor Learning Experiences, Wildlife Expeditions, Educational Consulting, the historical Murie Ranch and Mountain Academy programs, connecting learners of all ages to each other and the natural surrounding environment. Teton Science Schools serves thousands of local, regional, national and international students each year.
Teton Science Schools announced in June 2024 that it would suspend the upper school on the Mountain Academy Jackson Campus to focus its programs on early childhood through eighth grade. “The change process is difficult, but a necessary result of learning, dialogue, and growth. We are excited to welcome a President who understands the challenges of our past and wants to work with the TSS community to strengthen and grow all of our programs, including Mountain Academy, leading the organization with clarity and focus on our core mission.” said Corrigan.
