Host an AmeriCorps Service Member
Teton Science Schools is excited to offer other organizations in our community the opportunity to host AmeriCorps members and have them serve part-time or full-time at your organization!
Teton Science Schools has 12+ years of experience administering and implementing AmeriCorps grant procedures and protocol. AmeriCorps members will assist with your organizational goals while building capacity to increase STEM literacy in the greater Jackson Hole community. Teton Science Schools will provide members with room, board and training that prepares them to effectively accomplish their goals during their service terms. Providing such amenities allows partner organizations to spend more time on member recruitment, development and organizational projects. We are excited about the opportunity to increase our impact as a community in building STEM literacy.
Full-Time Service at a
Partner Organization (HubSite Member)
Teton Science Schools has operated as a Hub Site for AmeriCorps members since 2015. As such, Teton Science Schools is able to provide qualified local nonprofit and governmental organizations with AmeriCorps members who will serve the majority of their term at that organization. A HubSite member serves full-time at their partner organization for the duration of the term. With the HubSite model, TSS provides one week of training at the beginning of the term, room and board for the member, and administrative help. In this model, the partner organization would need to pay a match cost for room and board at TSS plus a weekly stipend to the member for the duration of the term. Your organization would be in charge of creating a job description and handling the hiring of this member. This option is best for an organization that has a project that can fill 40 hours per week for the entirety of the term. If you are interested in hosting a HubSite Member, please reach out to us directly at americorps@tetonscience.org.

Part-Time Service at a
Partner Organization
In this model, our members primarily serve at Teton Science Schools but also get out into the community to provide service where they can. We host three cohorts of AmeriCorps members per year.
Every term starts with about two weeks of training from Teton Science Schools at the beginning of service and finishes with three days of wrap up and closure at the end of the term. The TSS AmeriCorps program is a full-time service commitment of 450 (summer, fall) or 675 hours (winter). Upon completion of the service term, members will be eligible to earn a Segal AmeriCorps education award. Members also have full room and board at Teton Science Schools while they are serving.
The service term is split between TSS field education and project work with a partner organization. With TSS field education, AmeriCorps members plan and implement place-based education programs for visiting students. The partner project provides an opportunity for members to serve with a local organization to help strengthen the Jackson community and meet the community’s needs. In the past, these projects have looked like writing lesson plans, content creation, building a curriculum library, teaching classes, outreach, event planning, etc. If you’d like any more detail on what could work please don’t hesitate to reach out!
The number of hours that our members have to dedicate to service at partner organizations vary depending on the season.
Over the course of the Winter term, our members are able to serve either part-time or full-time with a partner organization every other week. Partners, this means that you can choose the level/depth of project work, we offer 20 hour/week every other week, and 40 hour/week every other week options. Please know that a 20 hr/wk project still takes considerable planning and set-up time from the partner. These hours could be in-person, hybrid of in person & virtual. Please indicate which option is best for your project in the service request form.
Over the course of the term, our members will have approximately 80 hours to serve with their partner organizations. These hours could be in-person, virtual, or a hybrid of both, just as long as they are flexible. These members are completely free to your organization with TSS handling all hiring and administrative aspects of the program and members. They are simply value added to you! This option would work best for organizations that have small projects in mind with flexible hours. We would love to partner all of our AmeriCorps members with organizations that can provide meaningful service opportunities.
During the fall term, members spend the first half of their term teaching field education programming at TSS. The second half of their term is dedicated to project work with a local non-profit organization. While it varies year to year, fall members typically have around 100-120 hours over the course of the fall service term. In the past, these projects have included curriculum development, content creation, outreach, educational programming, etc.
We have a large pool of members each term, and we’d love to partner them with organizations that can provide meaningful service opportunities. If you are interested in partnering with AmeriCorps, please fill out this request for member service form. Once you’ve filled out our survey, you will go onto our list of potential partners and projects, which members will use to make their service preferences.
